Mason jars are such a great base to craft with for gift giving for the holidays! After you’ve checked out this tutorial, visit THIS post to see 20+ other mason jar gift ideas you can easily make!
Supplies:
- Silver Mason Jar
- 4 Inch Styrofoam Ball
- Solid Black Eyes – 9 mm
- Carrot Nose
- Ruffle Yarn
- Aleene’s True Snow
Step one: Cover the styrofoam ball with True Snow. I like to use a skewer or toothpick to hold the ball while I work. Use a pallet knife to apply the “snow” to the ball. It has a stucco like texture to it. Let the True Snow dry for several hours.
Step two: Gently press the eyes and nose into the ball.
Step three: Tie the ruffle yarn around the neck of the jar.
Step four: Place the head on top of the mason jar.
The mason jar I used already had a mercury glass finish. If you’re using a regular mason jar, you can check out my Faux Mercury Glass Finish tutorial to learn how to achieve a faux mercury glass effect in just a few simple steps. You could also tint the glass with Mod Podge, like I show you HERE.
I placed a battery operated candle inside my jar for a pretty glowing light. You could also fill the jar with treats or homemade sweets. There are so many different things you could fill this gift jar with to make a custom gift for someone special in your life.
