Using these art frames from Anthropologie as inspiration, I decided to transform simple wood frames into beautiful pieces of wall art. With just clay and paint you can turn basic frames into pieces that are much more elegant.
Supplies Used:
- Wood Frames: 3×3 inches, 3.5×5 inches, 4×6 inches
- Craft Paint
- Wood Glue
- Mod Podge Molds
- Sculpey Clay
- Triple Thick Glaze
Step one: Press the clay into the mold, and remove excess. Carefully transfer the molded clay to a cookie sheet and bake the clay.
Step two: Use wood glue to attach the baked clay pieces to the frames.
Step three: Paint the frames. Use a baby wipe or damp towel to carefully remove some of the paint from the clay.
Step four: Glue the 3.5×5 inch frame on top of the 4×6 frame with the wood glue. I sealed the project with an application of glaze.
Replace the glass and add your favorite pictures to the frames. These frames make beautiful mini shadow boxes, too! I attached steampunk butterfly jewelry charms onto card stock to make pretty pieces of wall art. You could add your art work to create mini art galleries. Have fun crafting and creating!
