My daughter recently turned 7! To celebrate her big day, we threw her a tropical themed bash, complete with an ice cream bar. The day was so much fun. Here’s how we did it, and how you can, too.
The kids really enjoyed making their own ice cream sundaes! As a matter of fact, I liked it so much that the ice cream bar is now a permanent fixture in my kitchen. 🙂 This will make a great treat all summer long.
The sign and the pineapple inspired table ware are VERY easy to make. I used unfinished wood products from Walnut Hollow as my base, then painted them. You can see my complete tutorial for the signs and the pineapple themed decor by visiting the Walnut Hollow blog. Just click HERE to see all the pictures and details.
I used various jars to hold all the mix ins (sprinkles, brownie bits, candy, gummy worms, marshmallows, etc.). I found the coconut shaped cups and the flamingo straws at the Dollar Tree. After the kids were done, I rinsed their cups out so they could take them home as a souvenir of their tropical “vacation”.
Most of the party decor came from Dollar Tree, as well! The leis, the inflatable flamingo, and the paper tableware came from there! The tablecloth came from Party City, as did this fun flamingo cooler!
My mom and I made the flamingo “cake” with vanilla and chocolate flavored cupcakes. I covered a large piece of foam board with Oly-Fun fabric, then we kept rearranging the cupcakes until they looked like a flamingo. Finally, we laid on the frosting and the sprinkles. Pretty cute, don’t you think?
My daughter certainly enjoyed her day!
After that, the kids all had to paddle off the island to get back home. 🙂 Just kidding. It was a great day. A lot of work, but well worth it. Thanks for stopping by! For more fun homemade party ideas, click HERE. Have fun crafting and creating!
