Welcome back to another month of CAKE: Crafty Acts of Kindness Everywhere. This month I’d like to help some special kids celebrate their birthdays in style.
For July, we can craft themed birthday party items to mail to The Birthday Party Project. This wonderful group provides birthday parties to children residing in shelters in North Texas. They have a wishlist of items, which you can see here. I’d love for you to join me in purchasing and crafting items for themed birthday parties.
If you’d like to participate, you can mail your birthday party supplies here: The Birthday Party Project, 4385 Sunbelt Dr. Addison, TX 75001
If your summer is hectic and you don’t have time to craft but want to participate, you can help by donating to my Razoo fundraiser. You can see my fundraiser here. I will be using the funds raised to purchase paper party goods and mail them, along with the items I’ve crafted, to The Birthday Party Project.
I have several party themes I plan to tackle, and the first is a “Pretty Picnic” theme.
I’m making several paper star tags to use as part of the decor. You can see that tutorial here.
I embellished acrylic cups with ribbon, burlap, and chipbard stickers.
Next, I started making goodie boxes. I kept the design simple since I’ll be making multiples.
Step one: Fill a pillow box with treats. Fold the ends shut.
Step two: Wrap the box with a ribbon. Use a glue dot to hold it in place.
Step three: Adhere a square of burlap.
Step four: Top the burlap with a paper star and a sticker.
What kind of party will you design for The Birthday Party Project? I have several other themes I want to make next: a spy themed party, and a movie star themed one! Please join in on the crafting fun, and make a child’s birthday memorable this year! Remember, if you can’t craft, you can donate here, and I will purchase items to send. Check back in August for pictures and an update!
