Giant-Candy-Party-Decor

Birthday season is approaching in my house, and you know as well as I do that if you’re going to DIY a party, you have to start early!  My daughter likes to play the classic game of “Candyland”, which would make for a fun kid’s party theme, too.  With that in mind, I started making giant candy pieces to use for party decor.

Supplies:

  • Mini Paper lanterns – $1 for two at Michael’s
  • Tulle – on hand
  • Twine – on hand

To make your own paper lantern candy decor:

Step one:  Assemble the lanterns.

Step two:  Cut the tulle into strips long enough to cover the lantern plus leave an extra 6 inches on each end.

Step three:  Lay the tulle on a flat surface and begin to wrap the lantern.

Step four:  Tie the ends with twine and fluff the tulle out.  Trim the ends as needed.

I wish you could have seen my kids eyes when they saw the giant candy!  My one year old kept trying to rip them open to see what was inside.  That gave me the idea to use them as party favors, too.  Fill the lantern with goodies before you wrap them, use them as decor, then send them home with your guests at the end of the party!
