Growing up, I was a HUGE fan of The Muppet Show.  I watched every episode, I had the plush animals, the t-shirts, the magazines, and my walls were full of Muppet posters.  I bought a new Muppet calendar every year.  I loved the characters and the quirky humor, and I still do.  I am so happy that all of my favorite characters from The Muppet Show are still around today so I can share the humor and joy of this iconic show with my children.  Most recently, we shared a lot of laughs watching Muppets Most Wanted together.

Miss Piggy was my childhood heroine:  strong, sassy, and not afraid to go after what she wanted.  Kermie touched my hippie soul, and I don’t know how many times I sang along to “The Rainbow Connection” with him.  There are so many hilarious Muppet characters:  the Swedish chef (bork, bork, bork!), Beaker (meep!), and the predecessor to Steven Colbert, Sam the Eagle.  All of these brilliant characters, and many more, make an appearance in Muppets Most Wanted, a hilarious family film that is being released at today!  Starting August 12th, Muppets Most Wanted is available on Blu-Ray Combo Pack and Digital HD at

This truly is a movie the whole family will enjoy!  Your kids will love the Muppets, you’ll love the appearances by top comedians like Ricky Gervais and Tina Fey.  Your tweens will get a kick out of cameos from stars like Lady Gaga and Usher.  It’s the perfect movie for family night, because it has something for everyone.

Since I’m such a Muppet fan, as is my family, I was inspired by the movie to update a project that’s been on my to do list.  I’ve had a stick figure family on my car that I made over 3 years ago.  The baby is no longer a baby, and I was ready for an update.  I wanted something fun, and Muppets Most Wanted gave me the idea to turn our family into a Muppet family.  So I did!  Here’s how:

  • Muppet Silhouettes (download the Silhouette cut file here)
  • Silhouette Cutting Machine
  • Adhesive Vinyl
NOTE:  If you don’t have a cutting machine and want to try to make this by hand, you can download the outlines here and cut them out yourself.
Step one:  Open the file in your Silhouette Studio software.

Step two:  Cut the vinyl.

Step three:  Weed the vinyl and apply the transfer tape.

Step four:  Clean your car window and add the vinyl silhouettes to your car.

Now you can have the most wanted Muppets with you everywhere you go!  If you don’t own a car or don’t like decals on your vehicle, you can use these vinyl Muppet silhouettes in lots of other fun ways!  Why not label your science folder with Beaker and your romance writing spy notebook with Miss Piggy?
