As a budget conscious crafter, my love for DIY projects goes beyond home decor and accessories.  I enjoy  learning about natural cleaners and beauty products and how to make them myself.  Essential oils are very popular right now, and there are tons of personal products and cleaning products that you can make yourself.

Essential Oils DIYsI asked someone to share some essential oils projects with me, and I’m sharing these recipes with you.  This is what she said:  “I LOVE essential oils for DIY projects. I quickly learned that you can make own cleaners and homemade products with them.  It has been an amazing journey. We have been able to make all natural, organic products for PENNIES! I want to share some of my favorite recipes with you.”

lip balm

Lip Balm

This is one of my favorite recipes because unlike traditional store bought lip balm it is toxin free AND it doesn’t dry out your lips. Did I mention you can make this for under a $1 a container?

  • 2 Tablespoons beeswax (1 ounce)
  • 2 Tablespoons coconut oil
  • 2 Tablespoons shea butter
  • 10 drops essential oil (my favorite oils for this are peppermint, cinnamon or lime)

  1. Melt beeswax in a small pan over low heat.
  2. Add coconut oil and shea butter.
  3. Add essential oils.
  4. Fill each container.
  5. Optional: Add an extra drop of oil into each container.
