My secret to quickly making these wood word blocks? Save time by printing on kraft adhesive labels! Get the look without all the mess of liquid adhesives.
This quick project will not only make a sweet mother’s day gift, it will also make a beautiful year round piece of home decor! Turn the wood word blocks over to reveal a different word. Choose from mother, family, spring, summer, autumn, and winter. My blocks look great on the mantle over my fireplace, and I’ll be able to easily update them as the seasons and holidays change.
Supplies Used to Make Wood Word Blocks:
- Unfinished Wood Blocks
- Kraft Sticker Sheets from Online Labels.com
- Free Printable Letters (click HERE for all of them)
- Craft Paint
Step one: Paint the edges of all of the wood blocks with an off white paint. Let the paint dry completely while you move on to step two.
Step two: Download my free printables for the six words that will be spelled on the blocks: mother, family, spring, summer, autumn, and winter.
Step three: Print the letter sheets (there are 6 of them) on kraft label paper. I use THIS full sized kraft sticker sheet one from OnlineLabels.com.
Step three: Use a paper cutter to cut the letter apart.
Step four: Peel the backing off the paper and stick each letter on the wooden blocks to spell each word.
Bonus!! I also made a coordinating card to go with the wood word blocks mother’s day gift!
Download my free card printable, print it on the adhesive kraft paper, then cut it in half.
Adhere each section to a folded piece of cardstock and you’re done!
Mom can enjoy this handmade piece of decor all year long! As the season’s change, so will the message on the wood word blocks.
