Etched glass DIY gifts are so fun and easy to make! I create custom glass etched designs using weatherproof vinyl and alphabet stickers from my sponsor, OnlineLabels.com. These dad inspired gifts will be perfect to make and give for Father’s day!
Supplies Used to Make Etched Glass DIY Gifts:
- Weatherproof vinyl
- Alphabet stickers
- Free cut file download
- Glass Mug
- Glass Frame
- Glass Etching Cream
Step one: Download the free cut file and size it as needed to fit your glass mug.
Step two: Place the weatherproof vinyl sheet on a cutting mat and cut the vinyl. Weed the vinyl. I saved the parts I removed go make a quick card!
Step three: Use transfer tape to remove the vinyl from the backing and to adhere it to the cleaned glass mug.
Step four: Apply a generous amount of etching cream to the vinyl stencil. Let the cream work for at least 5 minutes.
Note: Be sure to wear gloves and work in a well ventilated area when using etching cream!
Step five: Rinse the etching cream off with running water in the sink. Peel the vinyl stencil off to admire your work. The great thing about using weatherproof vinyl is that you can save the stencil and use it again!
Step six: Attach the alphabet stickers to spell a message on the glass frame. There are so many stickers on the sheet that I spelled the entire thing with just one sheet of sticker labels!
Step seven: Apply a generous amount of etching cream to the frame. After five minutes, rinse off the cream and remove the stickers.
Glass etching is kind of addicting, especially when you can use vinyl and stickers to create your own custom designs! I think dad will love this gift. Looking for more fun DIY gifts to make for guys? Check out these incredible projects from several of my craft friends:
