Make a letter bookend to create custom home decor that is both functional and beautiful to look at.
I’ve mentioned in other posts that I love when an item is both decorative and functional! When I updated my daughter’s room several years ago I made her this pretty and useful bookend. I used her initial and the colors in her room to make this pretty letter bookend.
Supplies used to make a Letter Bookend:
- Paper Mache letter of your choice
- Beanbag Fill Pellets
- Darice Adhesive Fabric Sheets: Black and White, Teal, and Pink
- Darice Craft Dies: Bird and Cherry Blossom
- Corrugated Adhesive Paper
- Adhesive Pearls
Step two: Cover the letter with the black and white adhesive fabric sheets. Simply cut to size, peel off the back, and stick!
Step three: Cut the bird from the blue sheet.
Step four: Cut the cherry blossom branch from the pink sheet and the kraft sheet.
Step five: Peel and stick the kraft branch on the letter. Add the bird and fussy cut the pink flowers off the branch to simply add the flowers to the kraft branch. Embellish with the adhesive pearls.
I love the way the corrugated kraft paper makes the branch look more like wood. The peel and stick fabric is incredible, and a lot less messy than trying to decoupage fabric onto the letter! You could also use your Xyron Creative Station with fabric, like I did with THIS project. The beanbag pellets give the paper mache letter some needed weight, and make it easy to stand up and use as a bookend.
