This Joy pillow DIY is a quick way to create cute home decor!
I love to change the pillows in my living room couch around to fit each season, and DIYing my own pillows makes it easy to quickly create my own decor. This year I’m going with a traditional red and green color scheme, with glitter of course! My kids are still young so I’m keeping the theme whimsical and childish.
I used glitter HTV (heat transfer vinyl) with ultra plush pillow inserts from Fairfield World to make this pillow in under an hour. Make sure you keep reading till the end so you can enter for a chance to win SIX pillow inserts from Fairfield World.

- Glitter HTV in red and green
- Joy Cut File
- White fabric
- Iron
- Sewing Machine
I like to make a quick fold over style pillow cover so I don’t have to mess with zippers and buttons. This way the seasonal cover is easy to put on and take off, and since it’s only going to be used for a short period of time it doesn’t need much! You can see how I make the pillow cover in this other pillow tutorial project.
Cut and weed the HTV. Remember to mirror your image before you cut it! This way the letters will face the right way when you iron them on. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions to iron the glitter heat transfer vinyl onto the fabric.
After the letters are on the fabric, simply slide the pillow insert into the pillow cover. That’s it! Quick, cute, and ready to add Christmas cheer to your home decor!
