I saw this idea on Pinterest and again in Family Fun magazine. I was so glad when my boys said they wanted to make them! They are very excited to take these to school! I imported the template and traced it in Silhouette Studio so I could cut it out with my Silhouette. I hope you have a SUPER Valentine's Day! … [Read more...]

Teacher gifts for Christmas
I know, it's almost Valentine's Day and I am just now getting around to posting what I made for the boys' teachers for Christmas. Better late than never! The rings and bookmarks/paper clips were so easy to make! Just use some E-6000 to glue the resin flowers (also called cabochons) to the glue pad on the ring blank or clip blank. The tags are more involved but so fun to play with! I painted the wood tags with distress paints and let them dry. Then I cut the shapes out with vinyl (using … [Read more...]
Funny Baby Bib DIY Gift for New Parents
This funny baby bib is a hilarious baby gift for any new parent. Learn how to make this simple and cute project. Did you know that vinyl makes an awesome stencil for fabric, too? I saw this idea on Pinterest and it was so funny that I had to make one for Max! First I cut my design out on vinyl using my Silhouette cutting machine. This is the same vinyl used for wall decals. If you don't have a cutting machine, you can use stickers like I did with this shirt. I applied my design … [Read more...]
The Chair: Image to Wood Tag Transfer
This project is for another fun Moxie Fab challenge. I have been experimenting with using gel medium to add images to wood. (Click HERE to learn how to transfer images with gel medium.) I painted gel medium onto the chair image from a Teresa Collins paper, then adhered it to a wood tag. After it dried overnight I wet the paper and rubbed it off. The image is left on the wood. Very cool! I used the tag to present a gift: the ring I made with the black resin flower. Some crackle paint … [Read more...]
I’ll be home
I thought of my dad when I came up with this card to enter in this Moxie Fab challenge. This will be my second Christmas without him. We were always travelling for the holidays, either him to see us or the other way around. Thus the map I used to make the truck. In 2009, however, I chose to stay in PA instead of going home. I reasoned that it was my daughter's first Christmas and we were moving back to Texas in 6 months, so we would spend 2010 with … [Read more...]
Make Personalized Wood Blocks
I've been asked a few times to share how I made these blocks for my son's room, so here goes. These are really easy and fun to make! 1. Paint two inch square blocks with one coat of paint. 2. Cut paper into two inch squares. Distress the edges. Apply to wood blocks with Mod Podge. 3. Adhere stickers and chipboard. Age them with distress ink. (I used "vintage photo" distress ink. I cut a scrap of felt, wad it up, dab it on the ink pad, and then rub in a circular motion on the … [Read more...]
Moxie Fab Medallion Challenge
Here's another fun challenge at Moxie Fab World: the medallion challenge. I play along with all the challenges in my head, and even sketch ideas out; but actually making anything has been a challenge lately. That's why it was so much fun to actually complete these!I saw the medallion as a fun sun accent. For the rest of the card, I used the positive and negative images of the tricycle to make a thank you card to pair with the invitation. … [Read more...]
