This post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group® and Wet-Nap®, but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #ConquerTheMess http://my-disclosur.es/OBsstV
This is one of my favorite kind of craft projects, because not only do I get to be creative but I also get to create something that is a tad indulging. Bath melts are fun and very easy to make, and they leave your skin feeling oh-so-soft! I like to melt a few of these in warm water in the sink and soak my hands at night. It leaves them feeling clean and smooth. Plus, these pretty designs mean that my bath melts double as cute bathroom decor! Keep reading to learn how to make this easy clean up craft!
My summers are messy. With four kids at home and being a full time crafter, it’s inevitable! As I mentioned in this cooking post, Wet-Nap hand wipes are a staple in my home. They are perfect for easy clean up crafts! I always keep a canister (purchased at Wal-Mart!) in the kitchen for easy clean up dinners, and another canister on my craft desk for easy clean up.
Supplies:
- 1 cup epsom salt
- 1 tablespoon water
- Coloring
- Scent
- 1 Teaspoon Coconut Oil
- Mod Molds
Tips:
*I used my food processor to turn coarse Epsom salt into fine grain. The coarse salt will work but you won’t get the fine details of the mold. A more finely ground salt creates a better impression of the mold and is smoother to the touch.
*I used dyes and scents that are produced for soap making, so I know they are skin safe. Make sure you use a product specifically intended for use on skin.
Step one: Mix the epsom salt with a bit (approximately one teaspoon) of coconut oil. Add the water and mix well. (Note: These photos do not show one cup of Epsom Salt. I mixed smaller batches, approximately 1/4 of what I listed in the supply list above.)
Step two: Add the color to the mixture one drop at a time until you achieve the desired effect. Mix well so the colors is evenly distributed through the mixture.
Step three: Add the scent one drop at a time until you’re happy with the intensity of the smell. Mix well.
Step four: Spoon a small amount of the mixture into the Mod Mold. Press it in firmly with your fingers. When you’re done, use the Wet Nap wipes to clean your hands and your work surface. Leave the bath melts in the mold until they are dry, then turn the mold over and carefully pop them out.
Like I promised, this is an easy clean up craft!
I absolutely LOVE all the tiny details you can see in these bath melts! Using fine Epsom Salt makes it easier to show al the intricate designs available with smaller molds. These bath melts look and feel like sugar cubes, and they are surprisingly durable. The don’t fall apart when you handle them, so you can easily gift them in a small jar or box. They dissolve quickly in water, and, as I mentioned before, I enjoy soaking my hands to get soft, smooth skin.
Visit Walmart to grab a pack of Epsom Salt and for all your Wet-Nap® needs: 110-Count Hands, Face, & Body Cleansing Wipes, 24-Count Packettes Antibacterial Hand Wipes and 40-Count Canister Antibacterial Hand Wipes. Wet Naps make for clean, fresh smelling hands and easy clean up crafts, like these DIY bath melts. Have fun crafting and creating!
