I love to decorate for the holidays and, obviously, hand made home decor is my favorite. With all the things that have to get done during the holidays, it can be hard to squeeze crafting in. One thing I love about my sponsor Foamology’s products is that I can quickly and inexpensively create wall art. I used Design Foam to create a faux quilted Christmas tree to deck the walls with. Beautiful Robert Kaufman fabric gives the project a gorgeous elegant touch.
- Design Foam with Sticky Base
- Winter’s Grandeur Fat Quarter Bundle
- Scissors
- Glitter Cardstock Star
- Assorted Jewelry Pins
- Gold cord
Step two: Add the fabric strips as shown in the template. Simply tuck in the edges of the fabric, and the foam will hold it securely.
Step three: For the edges of the piece, peel away the backing and press the fabric into the adhesive backed foam. I completed the tree first, using fabric with gold in it. Once the tree was complete, I began to fill in the background with black fabric, like a starry night.
Step four: Glue the star to the top of the Christmas tree wall art.
Step five: To keep with the elegance of the fabric, I added some pretty costume jewelry as ornaments. Tie a length of cord onto a jewelry pin, then press the cord into the folds to hide the cord and hold the “ornament” in place.
This project is part of a challenge I’m participating in as a member of Fairfield World’s Design Team.
