I’ve made miniature gnome doors and mini pin cushions before, to name a few projects.  Now I’m making miniature spool vignettes to decorate with.  I used a cool new product with my Xyron tools to make these mini animal vignettes. The Diamond Press is a fun new tool that’s a miniature die cutting and embossing machine.  It works just like a full size die cutting machine, but small sized! This is a “must have” tool for scrapping retreats, working in the car while your kids are at soccer, or for kids to use.  My little ones love my Diamond Press because it is so easy to turn.  They have made dozens of bookmarks and cards with it already! This would be great for those who have dexterity issues with their hands because it doesn’t require a lot of force to turn the handle.  Check out what’s included with the Diamond Press kit:

Now that you’ve seen what the Diamond Press is, let me show you how to make the miniature spool vignettes.
Supplies Used: (may include affialiate links)

Step one:  Use the dot embossing folder in the Diamond Press to emboss the green paper. Cut it to fit the spool. Pull it through the Xyron sticker maker to add adhesive to the back of the paper. Attach it around the center of the spool. (Note:  Use light paper instead of heavy cardstock, so the paper won’t come off the spool.)

Step two: Use the dies that come with the Diamond Press to cut doubles of each of the desired shapes: butterflies, flowers, and “hello”.  Place them in the Xyron sticker maker to add adhesive to them.
Step three: Cut a 4 inch piece of wire and curl it to make loops.  Attach a die cut shape on either side of the wire so the shape will stay on the wire.
hot glueStep four: Use hot glue to attach the wire to the center of the spool.
Step five:  Cover the top of the spool with moss that is hot glued on.  Trim off the excess moss.
Step six: Use hot glue to add the miniature embellisments to each spool.  I added little animals and ladybugs.  I spray painted the mini rabbit gold because that is my theme this year, as I mentioned with this wall art tutorial.

Aren’t they cute?  You could easily turn these into place cards or photo holders instead.  I think they’ll make adorable desk decor.  I know they make me smile when I look at them on my desk.  If you want to make your own, Diamond Press and Xyron are giving you a chance to win your set!
