I’ve been on a flamingo “kick” lately. There’s something about them that just makes me smile, which is why I’ve been incorporating them in my crafting lately. When I was offered the chance to partner with My Favorite Things and choose any product on their site, I could not pass up this adorable flamingo die cut set! I paired them with Oly-Fun non-fraying fabric and a Xyron sticker maker to quickly and easily make this adorable flamingo mobile!
Supplies: (may include affiliate links)
- Die-Namics LLD Flamingos from My Favorite Things
- Xyron Disposable/Recyclable Sticker Maker, 3-In
- Kite String (Five 18 in. strands)
- Oly Fun Multipurpose Craft -Bubble Gum, Snow White , Jet Black
- Fairfield Poly-Fil Premium Polyester Fiber, White, 1 Bag, 12-Ounce
- Ad Tech Low Temp Mini Foam Glue Sticks and Glue Gun
- Foam Disc – 3 inch
Step one: Die Cut 30 flamingos from the Bubble Gum Oly-Fun fabric, as well as 30 wings and 10 hearts. Die cut 15 pairs of flamingo legs from the Snow White Oly-Fun fabric. Die cut the beak accents from the black and white fabric.
Step two: Pull only 15 of the flamingos through the Xyron sticker maker to add adhesive to the back.
Step three: Peel the flamingo off the Xyron paper backing and place it adhesive side up on your work surface. Lay the kite string on top of the flamingo as pictured, and add the legs. Place another flamingo on top to cover the adhesive and hold everything together.
Step four: Add adhesive to the wings and beak accents with the Xyron sticker maker, and attach them to the flamingos.
Place 3 flamingos on each of the 5 strands. Accent as desired with the pink hearts.
Step five: Poke a hole in the styrofoam and pull the kite string through. Tie the end and secure it with a bit of hot glue.
Step six: Hot glue Poly-Fil to the stryofoam to create the cloud that is raining flamingos.
Your flamingo mobile is now ready to be displayed! I have to admit, it’s kind of funny when a breeze makes the flamingos move. It looks like they’re running in the air! This fun piece of home decor would be great on a patio this summer, or as a party decor. Have fun crafting a flamingo mobile!
