Book lovers day crafts that are easy to make! This is a sponsored post.
Book lovers day is August 9th this year, so here are two quick and easy craft you can make to celebrate this day! I absolutely love books, and Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll has always been a favorite of mine. I used that story to inspire my DIY bookmark and bookplate, but you can use any images you like to make your own book lovers day crafts. Here are the basic elements you need to make a mixed media style book lovers craft.
Backgrounds
I like to use old game card pieces and postcards for my backgrounds. You can collect these items from the thrift store or online. You can also find them at the craft store in paper packs that are usually labeled as “ephemera”.
Focal Image
Just a like a good photo, your project needs a focal point. Die cuts are a great way to create a focal point. You can also cut images from books and magazines. I printed and cut my images from a graphics bundle called Dark Alice in Wonderland Graphics.
Embellishments
All those little bits and pieces that come with scrapbook paper packs are perfect for projects like this one. Frames, butterflies, flowers, etc. can be added in different ways. I like to spread out several items that I like and then choose the ones that work with the focal image best.
Text
You don’t have to add text, but sometimes it is a nice way to help state what you are trying to say with the image. Alphabet stickers, scrapbooking phrases, and label makers are fun to use to create text.
Adhesives
Xyron adhesives are great for this kind of project because you don’t have to wait for anything to dry. I like to use the Mega Roller to attach larger pieces, like the focal image. The small Xyron sticker maker is perfect for adding smaller embellishments to the piece.
When I’m done putting everything together, I use my Creative Station Lite with the double sided laminate cartridge to make the bookmark durable and long lasting. The laminate seals everything together, too. I trim around the edges to remove the excess laminate.
For the bookplate, I use the laminate + permanent adhesive cartridge in my CS Lite. This way the front of the image is sealed at protected, and the back is like a sticker. I trim the excess off, peel off the backing, and stick the label inside my book cover.
These book marks and bookplates are so easy to make that you’ll find yourself making a bunch in one sitting! It’s a fun way to celebrate book lovers day. Have fun crafting and creating!
