I don’t know about you, but I’m finding it hard to believe that school is just around the corner! Summer vacation seems to get shorter and shorter. This year we enjoyed a wonderful trip to London and Naples, so that might be why it feels like the time just blew by! I always put colorful, unique luggage tags on our items to make it easier to locate them at baggage claim, and I realized that I could do the same thing with my kids’ items! A fun, colorful, unique bag tag will make it so much easier for them to find their items at school!
To reduce the chances of having to replace lunch boxes, bags, and drink bottles, I like to use sturdy vinyl from StyleTech Craft to personalize my kids’ items. With this project I’m making my own DIY bag tags in designs that they like so that they can label their items to make them easier to find, and easier for someone to return to them!
DIY Bag Tags Supplies List:
- Craft Plastic Sheet – Black
- StyleTech Craft Luster Vinyl
- StyleTech Craft Ultra Metallic Vinyl
- Silhouette Cameo Cutting Machine & Design Studio
- Weeding Tools
- Transfer Tape
To make this project:
- Create your design in design studio. Choose a graphic you already have or create one using your school mascot. Offset the image and add a circle at the top to create the hang tag.
- Cut the backing for the tag from craft plastic. Or purchase an unfinished plastic blank.
- Cut the pieces of the design from various sheets of StyleTech Craft vinyl.
- Weed and assemble the images. For more detailed designs I like to reverse weed, which is when you apply transfer tape to the entire piece, lift it off the backing, and then weed from the sticky side of the vinyl.
- After the DIY bag tag is complete, add string or a clip to be able to add the tag to your child’s items.
