Use a few supplies you probably already have on hand to make funny face bookmarks for back to school. Kids will love to make and to receive these!
It’s hard to believe, but the start of a new school year is just around the corner! It’s always fun to give students a little handmade something to start the year off on the right foot. Everyone, no matter what their age or grade level, needs lots of bookmarks. Here’s a fun way to save your place in a book: with a funny face bookmark! If funny’s not your thing, check out my ribbon bookmarks instead.

Supplies Used to Make Funny Face Bookmarks:
- Baker’s Twine in a variety of colors
- Paper Clip (any size)
- Hot Glue gun or glue dots
- Googly Eyes
Step one: Cut between 6 and 8 pieces of twine. Make each piece about 5 inches long.
Step two: Join the twine strings, fold them in half, and push the folded part through the paper clip.
Step three: Slide the loose ends of twine through the twine loop and pull tightly. Trim the ends to the desired length. I like the ends even, but you can vary the lengths to create a different look.
Step four: Glue eyes and other embellishments onto the twine to make a face. I used a hot glue gun to attach wiggly eyes to each of my funny face bookmarks.
I think they kind of look like Muppets…maybe Beaker? These bookmarks would make cute back to school teacher gifts, too. Send a few of these funny face bookmarks to the new teacher with a note that says “I hope my kid doesn’t drive you crazy this year!” Have fun crafting and creating some silly bookmarks for the new school year!
