- Decorative Real Wood Slice Base with Real Bark Edge for Crafting
- Dowel Rods
- Minwax Wood Finishing Clothes
- Screws
- Embellishments
Step one: Cut the wood into plate sized circles, and sand the edges. (Or you can purchase pre cut slices of wood; link in my supply list above). Arrange the pieces until you have a shape and size that you like and that is balanced. If you don’t have a root-like piece for the base like I did, you can start with a large cut of wood for the base.
Step two: Use screws to attach the dowel rods and wood pieces together.
Step three: Stain the dowel rods so they match the wood pieces. I like to use staining cloths (link in the supply list) to quickly stain the small wood pieces.
Step four: Embellish the cupcake stand with butterflies, flowers, etc., using a hot glue gun.
If you don’t have cut trees on hand like we did, you can find similar pieces of wood at most craft stores and online. Of course, using materials you have on hand means you can make this DIY cupcake stand project for free! This base could be used for lots of different themed parties: add flowers all around this for a bridal shower, add glitter and miniatures for a fairy themed party, or add lots of insects for a bug party. Have fun crafting and creating!
