This is one of my most favorite projects! I made this steampunk snowman pin for Crafts Unleashed last year, and it turned out exactly the way I wanted it to! I combined my love for miniatures and steampunk to create this fun little snowman pin. Isn’t he adorably industrial? This fun winter project is so easy to make that you won’t be able to stop at just one…you’ll find yourself making a whole collection of snowmen to wear or to decorate your desk with.
Supplies:
- Glass Bottle
- Seed Beads
- Pin Backs
- Durafoam Ball
- Diamond Dust Glitter
- Glue Gun
- Bakers Twine
- Various Findings
Step one: Fill the bottle with cream colored seed beads. Glue the pin back to the back of the bottle.
Step two: Softly roll the Durafoam ball in your hand to make it smaller and more compact. Use a craft knife to carve a small hole in the bottom to glue the ball to the cork top.
Step three: Use various findings to make the face and hat for the snowman. I had fun digging through my craft stash to find pieces that would work. I used scrapbooking pins for the eyes, a rolled piece of copper sheet to make the nose, and cut a bead spacer in half for the mouth. The hat is a washer and a nut glued together.
Step four: Once the face has been glued on and is dry, brush the entire head with Mod Podge and sprinkle it generously with super fine glitter. This helps give the face a softer, snowy look.
Step five: Make a scarf of baker’s twine, and buttons from rhinestones.
I can’t wait to pin this fun little snowman to my jacket!. I might even use it as a scarf pin! He’s so cute to look at that right now he just sits on my craft desk and makes me smile while I work. I think I need to make him some friends, don’t you? Have fun crafting and creating steampunk snowmen this winter!
