DIY Donald Trump Ugly Sweater

I’m FINALLY going to attend my FIRST EVER ugly sweater party.  Yay!  I’ve dreamed of this day.  Let’s face it, working from home means that most of my friends are online.  Thankfully, my husband has “real life” co-workers who decided to host an ugly sweater party.  Now I just had to figure out what to wear!

I spent a lot of time looking at ugly sweaters.  Brainstorming for ideas.  Looking for something that would be unique and gaudy at the same time.  I have to admit, the research was kind of fun.  There are some crazy ugly sweater ideas out there!

While I was looking for the perfect sweater idea, this episode happened on Saturday Night Live.  I have to give The Donald credit:  he can be funny when he’s not afraid to poke fun at himself.

That’s when I got the idea to put Donald Trump on my ugly sweater.  People love to hate him.  And he likes to put his name on everything.  So I decided to put his giant face on my sweater, and as he says, make it HYUUUUGE!

I used my Silhouette Cameo to make this quick project.  Here’s how you can make your own Trump Ugly Sweater.

Supplies:

• Sweater
• Free Trump Cut File (download HERE)
• Expressions Vinyl – 12″x12″ 5-pack of Siser Easyweed T-shirt/Iron-on Heat Transfer Vinyl Sheets (Gold)
• Dritz Iron-On Letters 1 Inch Block Font-White
• Rhinestones
• Beacon Fabri-Tac Permanent Adhesive, 4-Ounce

Step one:  Download the file and cut it from the gold heat transfer vinyl.  Weed the vinyl.

Step two:  Place The Donald’s face on the sweater and iron it on.  Remove the protective plastic cover after it has cooled.

Step three:  Cut the letters from the sheet and place them as desired.  Iron them on.

Step four:  Use Gem-Tac to glue the rhinestones onto the sweater.  I made a faux necklace and added some “jewels” to the cuffs of the sweater.

I can’t wait to wear this Trump Ugly Sweater to the ugly sweater party.  I wonder if there will be prizes.  Do you think I’ll win?  🙂
