Valentine’s Day is approaching! I love to decorate with hearts and make Valentine’s for this love-ly holiday. I combined two of my favorite craft items, Oly*Fun fabric and decoupage medium, to make a colorful, whimsical fabric bowl. Since Oly*Fun fabric doesn’t fray, it’s a breeze to cut with dies to create professional looking heart shapes.
Supplies:
- Fairfield Oly Fun Multi-Purpose Craft Material, various colors
- Darice Embossing Essentials Dies, Nesting Hearts, 5-Pack
- Plaid Martha Stewart Decoupage Formula, 8-Ounce, Glitter Finish
- Environmental Technology 8-Ounce Kit Casting’ Craft Casting Epoxy, Clear
Step two: Cut hearts from the Oly-Fun fabric with the die and your cutting machine. I cut multiple sizes in various colors.
Step three: Use a brush to apply the decoupage medium to both sides of the heart shape. Place the heart on the bowl. Repeat until the bowl is covered. I placed the largest hearts first, and then filled in the spaces with the smaller hearts. Make sure you don’t leave any open spaces, because the gaps make the bowl weaker and could cause it to collapse over time.
Step five: Mix resin according to package instructions. Brush a thin layer of resin over the fabric.
This bowl is pretty filled with pot pourri, paper flowers, or other light items. Have fun crafting and creating for Valentine’s day! If you’d like to see more Valentine Craft ideas, check out my tutorial list HERE.
