Throw a Hawaiian party with these “Lilo and Stitch” Themed birthday party ideas. This is a sponsored post with Oriental Trading Company.
My one and only daughter will be turning 8 soon, and we threw her a party over the weekend. She adores the movie “Lilo and Stitch”, so she chose that as her party theme. She’s a lot like me (loves handmade items and crafts) so she likes to have her birthday parties at home and help make the cake. I love to plan her parties with her, and we have fun baking and decorating together. Here are some pictures of her eighth birthday “Lilo and Stitch” themed Hawaiian party. Enjoy!
Here’s Juliana, all dressed up in a pretty outfit that my mother sewed just for her. Happy 8th birthday to my Pacific Princess!
We had so much fun setting the table! We topped the flamingo themed plates with adorable ice cream bowls to use at the ice cream bar we set up. The fun pineapples are favor boxes, and they had rings and lollipops (one shaped like a shark, the other like pineapple characters) inside them.
Decorative leaves and fabric hibiscus flowers helped add a tropical touch to the table.
Aren’t those ice cream bowls sweet? Here are links to the items I used in case you want to check them out for your own Hawaiian party this summer:
- Bright Hibiscus Centerpiece
- Turquoise Tablecloth
- Ice Cream Dishes
- Flamingo Plates
- Tropical Leaves
- Pineapple Favor Boxes
We kicked off the party with crafts. The table was decorated with a pink tablecloth fringed with a tropical flowered table skirt. I set out several sea shell shaped bowls to hold all the craft items together. First we started with an adorable sea horse foam craft kit. The girls really loved this, and I liked that all of the items have adhesive backs already so the kids could assemble this on their own and not wait for glue to dry. After that we made beaded dolphin pendant necklaces and tropical bird magnets. The kids were all so proud of their crafts and they made cute keepsakes to take home.
The cake was so easy to make and looked amazing! I made two 8 inch round chocolate layer cakes for the base. Then we made 5 mini vanilla cakes using the Wilton Easy Layers! 5-Piece Cake Pan Set. I stacked and covered them with blue icing, then we ringed the top 5 layers with Piroulines. The top of the tower was decorated with Disney Lilo & Stitch Figure Play Set, and then we finished the cake off with decorative hibiscus flowers.
When the kids were done with crafts, I moved the table closer to the dining room to turn it into an ice cream bar. Palm leaf serving trays were filled with various toppings that the kids got to pile onto their ice cream. They really loved this activity!
My husband came up with the awesome idea of filling a bowl with dry ice and placing a flaming tiki head over it. This looked awesome on the snack table!
The flamingo pull string piñata was a big hit, as usual. Who doesn’t love free candy?
And, of course, we had a photo booth. All of our guests had fun dressing up and hamming it up for the camera. I took several adorable pictures of my daughter with her friends and cousins, and at the end of the day I had to grab one last picture of my entire family together. Our Hawaiian party was a BLAST!
