Make your own DIY Beach Wall Art to create custom home decor.
I absolutely love beach living! I used to live on an island, and I miss the feel of sand under my feet and the sounds of waves crashing in my ears. I’m land locked now, so I turn to crafting to bring the feel of the beach to my home. This colorful sea horse wall art will be a fun addition to my summer patio decor.

Step one: Paint the slats of the wood in various shades of blue and blue-green paint. (I used Caribbean, Aquamarine, and Grotto from Plaid Crafts.) I painted one color over the entire board, then added other shades while the base paint was still wet. This helped blend the colors together. Let the paint dry.

Step two: Brush Coastal Texture Paint in Sea Salt on the wood sea horse cut out. I sponged over it to give it a bit of texture. Let it dry.

Step three: Use coastal themed stencils and paint to add details to the painted wood board. Tape the stencil in place, then use a foam pouncer to dab paint over the stencil. Be sure to blot excess paint off the pouncer before painting over the stencil. I dabbed on Coastal Texture Paint in Ocean first, then dabbed over it with Aquamarine paint to highlight it. I wanted to create an “under the sea” look.

Step four: When the paint has dried, use wood glue to add the sea horse to the wood board.

This piece would coordinate nicely with the wood paddle hanger I made one summer. Have fun crafting and creating nautical decor for your home!
