Tiki Necklace DIY Supplies
- Flat Wood Pendant
- Round wooden beads
- Various Bright Colors of Acrylic Paint
- Permanent Marker
- Paint Brush
- Threading Cord
***If you can’t find flat wood pendant beads (these were by Darice, which is not longer in business after being purchased by Michael’s Craft Stores) then you can upcycle wood domino tiles. You’ll have to drill a hole in them first.
Draw the desired design on the wood pendant with pencil. You can use my drawing as a guide, or look up tiki faces online.
Fill in each space of the tiki face with color. I started with blue, then added different colors to fill in the design.
Continue to add color using a fine brush. If needed, add a second layer of paint after the first one has dried.
Paint the wood beads with the same colors used on the tiki face. I placed 4 wood beads on a toothpick to make painting easier. I place the toothpicks in a block of styrofoam to let the paint dry.
Use a fine tip permanent marker to trace the sections on the tiki mask.
Use thin cord to string the beads and pendant together to create a necklace.
Have fun crafting and creating jewelry and favors with wood and paint! You can use this idea to make necklaces in any style or theme that suits your summer theme!
