Summerween Party Decor: When Beach Vibes Meet Halloween Magic Tropical witch hat drink parasol DIY

Okay, so you know how I’ve been fully spiraling into my Summerween era? Beach vibes + Halloween energy, all in one glorious, color-drenched celebration? Well, I’m back with another project that might be my most fun one yet — and it’s incredibly easy to pull off. I’m talking tropical witch hat drink toppers. Forget the little paper parasols. This Summerween, we’re topping our drinks with tiny, sparkly, vibrant witch hats — and they are everything.

Beach Meets Broom: The Concept

The whole idea started because I wanted my party drinks to feel just as festive as the rest of my Summerween setup. Tropical cocktails with little paper umbrellas are cute, but I wanted something spooky, colorful, and totally on-theme. Witch hats on drinks? Yes. Immediately yes. Especially when they’re painted in bold, beachy hues with a serious glitter moment going on.

This project comes together with just a couple of key products from @plaidcrafts:

  • Mod Podge Stiffy — the secret weapon that makes fabric or paper stiff enough to hold its shape, so your witch hats actually stand up on your drink
  • Glitterific Acrylic Paint by Plaid — bold, sparkly, and available in colors that are perfect for a beachy Halloween palette
  • Felt Fabric
  • Paintbrush
  • Skewers for the toppers
  • Sea Shells
  • Craft Paint

How to Make Witch Hat Drink Toppers

Step 1: Shape & Stiffen

Use Mod Podge Stiffy and shape them while wet. Let them dry completely — the Stiffy is what makes them hold their cone shape so they sit perfectly on the rim of a glass without flopping over. This stuff is a game changer for 3D fabric and paper projects! See the short video tutorial for more information!

Step 2: Let Dry & Add Your Topper Stick

Once your paint is fully dry, attach a toothpick or small skewer to the underside of the hat brim with a dab of glue. Let it set, and your drink toppers are ready to go!

Step 3: Style Your Drinks

Pop those witch hats right onto the rim of your glasses or straight into the drink itself. Pair with tropical garnishes like pineapple slices, orange wedges, or a sprig of rosemary for that extra Summerween energy. 🍍🧡

But Wait — There’s More 👀

The witch hat drink toppers are just one piece of the Summerween puzzle I’ve been building! Watch the video to catch a glimpse of the other things I made for this party spread — and let me know in the comments which project you’re most excited to try. I want to make tutorials for whatever you’re most eager to recreate!

Why I Love This tropical witch hat diy

What I love most about this project is that it’s quick, low-mess, and high-impact. You don’t need a lot of supplies or a lot of time — just a couple of Plaid products and a little creative vision. The Mod Podge Stiffy does the heavy structural lifting, and the Glitterific paint makes everything look like you spent way more time on it than you actually did. It’s the perfect last-minute Summerween craft if you’re throwing a party and want something unexpected on the drink table.
