My husband gets all the credit for this amazing piece of outdoor Halloween decor! How awesome is this faux dungeon? Keep reading to learn how you can make your own dungeon decor for Halloween.
I had seen a picture with a similar project on Facebook. That one was dug into the person’s front yard. We didn’t want to tear up our yard, so my husband modified the project. I think his version is awesome!
Supplies Used:
- Wood pallet that you asked your husband to save and then forgot about it in the back yard so it started to rot
- Cement blocks
- Rubber hands
- Red rope light
- (Optional) Fog machine
Step one: Take the rotting, aged pallet that you forgot you had and place it in the desired place. We used our front porch.
Step two: Place rope lights under the pallet, as well as a fog machine if desired.
Step three: To create the illusion of a cellar dungeon, surround the pallet with cement blocks.
Step four: Wedge plastic hands into the slats of the wood pallet.
This “underground” dungeon looks creepy enough during the day. At night, the red lights and fake fog make it look even eerier!! This is awesome! Creepy without being gory. I hate how gory Halloween has become.

Thanks! I don’t like gory decor either.
