Make a Bless Your Heart Candle to brighten someone’s day. This is a sponsored post.
One of the things I like about candle making is that you can create your own scents, and have a little fun with the names while you’re at it. One of my favorite expressions to use is “Bless Your Heart”. This term can be endearing or an insult, depending on how it is used. I have found it to be especially useful on social media with trolls. When someone “attacks” me, I respond with simply “bless your heart” and it stops them in their tracks. They expect vitriol in return and don’t know what to do with a seemingly kind gesture that has a condescending undertone. That sentiment is what inspired this candle and its name.
When I had to think of what “bless your heart” might smell like, the first thing that came to mind was Sweet Tea. Oh, that sugary, refreshing goodness! Sweet tea made me think of summer days outside, with laundry on the line and the smell of fresh linen drying. That’s how this scent was born. To present my candle gift, I needed a label that would not smear or slide off. I turned to my favorite label company, OnlineLabels.com, for printable labels that are made especially for candles. In no time at all my candle gift was done!
Supplies Used to make a Bless Your Heart Candle:
- Free Printable
- 6″ by 3″ Rectangle Labels OL318 from OnlineLabels.com
- Mason jar-like container with smooth surfaces (Hobby Lobby)
- Wax melts scented like Iced Tea and Fresh Linen (Walmart)
- Candle warmer
- Wick
- Lace
Cut the wick so it is longer than the container. Tape one end to a craft stick and place the wick in the container.
Fill the jar with the wax melts.
I know this is the slow way to do this, but I like to place the container on my candle warmer and let them melt slowly. This way I can do other things *and* enjoy the lovely fragrance all day long as the cubes melt.
When the cubes have melted, turn off the warmer and let the wax set. Trim the wick and put the lid back on after the wax is cool.
Print the free label printables on the paper from OnlineLabels.com.
Peel and stick the label to the jar.
Use some lace to wrap the lid, and hot glue a lace bow onto the lid. This candle is sassy and cute, just like any gal who tells another person “Bless Your Heart”.
