st. patrick's day DIY lucky sign

I’m hoping to bring some good luck to my home this St. Patrick’s Day with this cute DIY sign I made! I love to mix and match different kinds of vinyls from StyleTech Craft to create a colorful piece of decor. For this project I combined their glitter and gloss vinyls with their super shiny chrome vinyls to make a sparkly project that instantly catches your eye!

cut and weed vinyl DIY lucky sign

I chose four scrap blocks of wood that fit together well, and used wood glue to hold them together. Two of my cuts were rough, so I evened the surface out with gesso before painting the blocks with white paint. After the paint dried I sanded the edges lightly to distress them, then dry brushed some stain around the edges. I wanted a rustic, aged look for the wood so that the vinyl letters could really shine!

I cut the design from the various vinyls. I think the green and yellow letters of the letters pair nicely with the chrome green and gold, so they look cohesive while not being exactly the same.

After weeding the vinyl I layered the green glitter letter on top of the yellow glossy outline. Then I transferred each letter to the appropriate block. Last I added the golden horseshoe and shiny green shamrock to the blocks.

The sign pairs nicely with the leprechaun trap that I made, and it creates a pretty focal point for my mantle. Have fun crafting and creating this DIY lucky sign for St. Patrick’s Day!
