Craft your heart out with xTool’s new S1 laser cutter in white and make spooky cute laser cut Valloween decor!
As I mentioned previously, my husband gave me an xTool D1 Pro for my milestone birthday and it sat in the box for almost a year because I was overwhelmed with the idea of assembling it. I also had to add an enclosure and honeycomb before I could use it safely indoors. When xTool offered me the opportunity to upgrade my laser cutter I gladly accepted and was given the chance to work with the limited edition white version of the S1 laser cutter.
I was delighted by how I could use xTool’s S1 laser cutter almost right out of the box. I just had to follow a few steps and the machine was ready for action! I love that it came with an enclosure built around it with the honeycomb included, plus it also had air assist! Air assist is a must have feature (I now realize!) because it almost eliminates char on your cut wood! The xTool Smoke Purifier is another feature that I just LOVE. Since my laser cutter is inside this accessory keeps the smoke at bay so I can work safely indoors. As an added bonus, the new white S1 laser cutter matches my workspace perfectly, as you can tell from the photos!
With Valentine’s Day around the corner, the first projects I made with my new xTool lasers had a love theme. Of course, since I’m a spooky gal I had to put my twist on it and make Valloween (Valentine + Halloween mashup) decor! Here’s how you can make your own. Follow the short video tutorial or keep reading to learn how to make these creepy cute projects!
Laser Cut Valloween Decor Supplies
- S1 laser cutter
- Basswood Plywood Sheets by xTool
- Pink, black, red, and white acrylic paint
- Ghost Sign and Heart Spiderweb svg files
- Baker’s Twine
- Glue
I like to paint my basswood before I cut it. I’ve tried several brands of wood and have found that the sheets from xTool are the only ones that don’t arrive warped and don’t warp when I paint them. (By the way, save 15% off your purchase of selected xTool materials with the code AFFMTRS15.) Paint the wood and let it dry completely before cutting.
Cut and engrave the desired graphics. This laser cutter works fast so I spend more time waiting for paint to dry than I did cutting it! Once they were cut all that was left to do was glue the pieces together and then display!
I’m having a blast using my S1 laser cutter on lots of different materials! Slate coasters are really fun to make…that tutorial is coming up next! Have fun crafting and creating with xTool laser cutters!
