Create your own DIY rock star party cake topper with matching cards by using metallic vinyl from StyleTech Craft! This is a sponsored post but all ideas and opinions are my own.
Here’s a cute way you can personalize any birthday cake. Make an adorable banner in your party colors, and customize it with your own message. It’s a quick and cute way to make the cake as unique as the recipient! I went with a rock star theme. By using the same vinyl colors in the cake topper and invitation I was able to create a professional looking, cohesive theme!
DIY Rock Star Party Supplies List
- StyleTech Craft Metallic Vinyl in Black, Red, and Silver
- Transfer Tape
- Birthday Banners SVG Cut Files & Clipart Set
- Vintage Vinyl Records Retro SVG File
- Silhoutte Cameo or similar cutting machine
- Chipboard
- Faux leather necklace cord.
- Wood or bamboo skewers
- Hot Glue Gun
Import the banner SVG files into your design studio and size it to fit your cake. I made my banner 11 inches wide.Choose your message (I used “You Rock”) and make sure the letters will fit on your banner.
Cut the back layer of the banner from the chipboard.
Cut the remaining elements from the vinyl. I used black for the banner, silver for the letters and the record, and red for the center of the record album.
Weed the vinyl and use transfer tape to add the vinyl to the chipboard.
You can cut the “string” for the banner or hot glue cord onto the banner like I did. Use a hot glue gun to attach the wood skewers to the back of the banner.
Use this same process to create the cake topper and matching invitation. I used a guitar file from Silhouette Studio and cut it from chipboard for the topper and from cardstock for the card. Layer the vinyl pieces onto the paper backing to complete the topper and the card.
Place the skewers in the cake to hold the DIY rock star party cake toppers up, then decorate the cake as desired. Have fun crafting and creating your own custom party decor!
