I made this hilarious DIY Homer Simpson sponge holder to bring one of my most used gifs into my everyday life! This is a sponsored post with StyleTech Craft but all ideas and opinions are my own.
This Homer Simpson gif is so relatable isn’t it? We’ve all had times when we wished we could just disappear into the back ground!
I saw that lots of people in my 3D printing groups were using a Thingiverse file to print Homer Simpson sponge holders. I didn’t have all the colors needed to print one, so I decided to make my own and fill in the colored sections with StyleTech Craft vinyl instead!! I LOVE how it turned out.
I used my xTool S1 Laser to cut a black acrylic sheet to create the holder. Then I cut the individual pieces from StyleTech Craft Gloss Vinyl. I love that StyleTech Craft offers a HUGE variety of colors and finishes. I was able to find the perfect shades of yellow, tan, and blue to replicate the colors used on the “real life” Homer Simpson.
Clear Transfer Tape (also from StyleTech Craft) made it easy for me to position each of the cuts perfectly. I cut some teeny tiny details (look at the pin pricks in the eyes and the lines around the face) and the vinyl cut like a dream and kept all the itty bitty details perfectly. It’s so easy to weed, too! It’s my go-to vinyl for all kinds of crafting!
Once Homer was put together I used a bit of super glue to hold all the pieces together. Add a green sponge and the effect is complete! The Homer Simpson sponge holder looks like he is fading into the bushes. I laugh every time I look at it!
