Here’s a step-by-step guide to creating your own giant Christmas bow!
Giant Christmas Bow Materials:
- Oly-Fun® Metallic 10 Yard Bolt Red
- Oly-Fun® Metallic 10 Yard Bolt Gold
- Scissors
- Ruler or measuring tape
- Stapler
- Chenille Stems
- Twine
Step 1: Measure and Cut Your Fabric
Cut a piece of Oly-Fun fabric approximately 2 yards long and 15 inches wide for the main loops. You will need three of these (two red, one gold). Feel free to adjust the measurements depending on how large you want your bow to be.
Step 2: Create the Loops
- Lay the fabric flat on a clean surface.
- Fold each end of the fabric toward the center, overlapping slightly to form two large loops. Ensure the ends meet neatly in the middle.
- Pinch the center together and use chenille stems to secure the overlapping ends in place.
Step 3: Form the Center Knot
First join the three loops together and tie them with a yard long piece of twine. Use the excess twine to create a loop to hang the wreath with.
Cut a smaller strip of Oly-Fun fabric (about 15 inches long and 6 inches wide). Wrap it around the center of the bow to create the “knot” and hide the secured ends. Staple it at the back of the bow.
Step 4: Add the Bow Tails
Cut two additional strips of fabric for the bow tails, each about 1 yard long and 10 inches wide. The thinner gold band is 3 inches wide. Cut a “V” shape into one end of each strip for a classic bow tail look. Attach the tails to the back of the bow using the stapler.
Step 5: Fluff and Secure
Carefully shape and fluff the bow loops to give them a full and even appearance. Use the twine loop from step 3 to attach the bow to your desired location, whether it’s a wreath, a gift, or a banister.
With just a few simple steps, you can create a dazzling, oversized Christmas bow that will be the highlight of your holiday decor. Grab some Metallic Oly-Fun fabric and start crafting today!
