Make your own pet memorial ornaments DIY using vinyl and a cutting machine. This is a sponsored post with StyleTech Craft but all ideas and opinions are my own.

Saying goodbye to a beloved family pet is one of the hardest parts about opening your heart and home to a pet companion. This year our family has had two beloved pets cross over the rainbow bridge, so I wanted to make ornaments to remember them by.
I made one for Nacho, our first family dog, who passed away at the age of 15 in February. And I made another for Ozzy, our sweet guinea pig who passed away at the age of 7 this July. I used a vibrant rainbow vinyl to create the backing for the ornaments. Here’s how to make them:
Pet Memorial Ornament DIY Supplies
- StyleTech Craft Metalized Rainbow Vinyl
- StyleTech Craft Heat Transfer Vinyl in Black
- 3mm Basswood
- Chipboard
- Pet Memorial SVG File
- Cutting Machine
I wanted a matte frame for my ornaments so I used my heat press to apply the black HTV to a piece of basswood.

I transferred the rainbow vinyl to a 12 x 12 piece of chipboard.

Cut the front part of the frame from the wood (or paper if you prefer). Cut the rainbow backing out.

Use glue to attach the front of the ornament to the backing.
Tie a string through the loop on the ornament. You can write the pet’s name and other memories on the back of the ornament.

I love the contrast of the rainbow vinyl against the matte black frame. For me it’s a reminder that even with the pain of the loss, there can be joy in the happy memories created during our time together with our pets.

I hope you enjoyed this project! Thanks for stopping by my corner!
