Happy Lunar New Year! 2026 is the year of the Fire Horse, a rare event that only happens every 60 years. To commemorate this exciting year, I created a template that you can use to create a no sew fire horse appliqué pillow.

Fire Horse Appliqué Pillow Supplies List
- Horse Template (see below to right click and save)
- Textured, non-fraying fabric scraps in a variety of colors
- Stick Double Sided Fusible Interfacing
- Blank Pillow Cover
- Fairfield World Pillow Insert
- Scissors
- Iron with steam setting
- Parchment Paper or Silicone Heat Press Sheets
When selecting fabrics, look for materials that do not fray easily, such as felt, fleece, or certain knit blends. Mixing textures adds depth and dimension to your finished design. Imagine a fiery red mane, a golden sunburst background, or even a dramatic black silhouette against a neutral cover. The Fire Horse invites bold color choices.

- Press the Stick Fusible Interfacing onto the wrong side of the fabrics.
- Trace the template pieces on the fabric and cut them out.
- Arrange the template pieces on the pillow cover and iron on.
- Fill the pillow with an insert, shape it, and display your new decor!
