Inspired by the hit show Stranger Things, these two DIY Valentine boxes turn a classroom tradition into a pop culture moment. One project channels the show’s most iconic monster with a Demogorgon head that chomps valentines through its toothy grin. The other celebrates Eleven’s favorite comfort food with a toaster Valentine box topped with a faux Eggo waffle. Both projects are beginner friendly, budget conscious, and perfect for usingOly-Fun Fabric from Fairfield World for bold color and easy cutting.

Project 1: Demogorgon Valentine Box

This Demogorgon head is dramatic, playful, and surprisingly simple to build. Valentines are dropped right into the mouth, making it both spooky and functional.

Supplies Used

Demogorgon Template Pieces

  • Center circle: 6 inch round
  • Top triangle: 10 inches tall x 6 inches wide
  • Four side triangles: 10 inches tall x 8 inches wide

How It Comes Together

  1. Use the shoebox as the base and cut an opening where the mouth will be.
  2. Trace and cut the circle and triangles to create the Demogorgon head.
  3. Cut the head from the fabric.
  4. Glue the wire into place. Then glue the two layers together.
  5. Add layers of Oly-Fun fabric teeth for that signature Demogorgon look.

Project 2: Eleven’s Eggo Toaster Valentine Box

Supplies Used

How It Comes Together

  1. Turn a shoebox on its side so the opening faces up like a toaster slot.
  2. Cover the box with Metallic Oly-Fun fabric to mimic a real toaster.
  3. Add simple details like buttons, knobs, or a lever using layered fabric shapes.
  4. Draw a waffle shape on Sand Oly-Fun fabric and add grid lines with marker or stitched details. Glue that to the styrofoam circle.
  5. Let the faux Eggo waffle peek out of the top of the toaster for an instantly recognizable reference.
