Spring rain doesn’t have to be dreary. I wanted something that could catch the light on a gray day — and honestly, a clear bubble umbrella is already magical on its own. Add some glitter? Total showstopper. I had several sheets of StyleTech Craft glitter transparent vinyl sitting in my craft room and knew it was the perfect match.

How to make Your Glitter Vinyl Clear Umbrella

Clean the umbrella panels
Wipe down the outside of each clear panel with rubbing alcohol on a lint-free cloth. This removes oils and dust so your vinyl sticks properly and lasts. Let it dry completely before moving on.
Design & cut your shapes
Choose your design — I went with a mix of florals to lean into the spring rain theme. Upload your SVGs to your cutting software, set the material to “glitter vinyl,” and cut. Tip: Mirror your design if cutting text!
Weed your designs
Use your weeding tool to remove the negative space from your cut designs. Work slowly — glitter vinyl can be a little more delicate than standard vinyl.
Apply transfer tape
Cut a piece of transfer tape slightly larger than each design. Lay it over the weeded vinyl, smooth it down firmly with a scraper, then carefully peel it back — the design should lift with the tape, leaving the backing paper behind.
Position & apply to the umbrella
Open the umbrella fully and lay it on a soft surface. Position each design on the outside of a panel, pressing from the center outward to avoid bubbles. The slight curve of the umbrella is manageable — take your time and smooth as you go.
Peel the transfer tape & admire
Slowly peel the transfer tape back at a low angle, checking that the design stays on the umbrella. If a piece lifts with the tape, lay it back down and burnish more firmly before peeling again. Once all pieces are applied, step back and enjoy the sparkle!
