I tend to be a very practical person, and I’m drawn to crafts that are both fun and functional. Instead of throwing or packing place settings away, why not extend their life? These mini chalkboard place settings can double as favors for your guests! After the party is over, guests can reuse the place setting as a cute magnet.
This post first appeared at Crafts Unleashed, where I am a member of the Design Team.
Supplies to make your own place setting favors:
- Framed Chalkboard
- Acrylic Paint – Poppy Orange
- Acrylic Paint – Antique Gold
- White Glue (like Elmer’s)
- Rusted Watering Can miniatures
- Rusted Tin Pail miniatures
- Floral Embellishments
- Magnets
Step 2: Brush white school glue over the orange paint and then paint the antique gold on top. This will give the paint a crackled/weathered appearance.
Step 3: Use a hot glue gun to adhere the miniatures and flowers to the mini chalkboard. Place the miniature at the bottom of the frame so that the place setting can stand on it’s own.
Step 4: Glue a magnet to the back of the chalkboard.
The frame colors and flowers can be changed to suit your party theme or holiday. For Christmas, a white frame with red flowers would be adorable!
Happy crafting!
