I love my new tote bag, because of the cheery color AND because I got to design it myself. Read on to learn how easy it is to make your own!
I designed this project in collaboration with one of my favorite online craft sites, Darby Smart. You can find all the supplies you need to make this bag (shown below) HERE.
To start with, you’ll have to punch the design from the Handmade Charlotte Stencils. The lines are perforated so this is easy to do. As you can see below, I left some parts of my stencil intact to make a heart design.
Place the stencil on the bag, and use the spouncer to dab paint onto the design. You can see the beginning of mine here. This one is a work in progress…I’m going to repeat the design to fill the back of the bag.
I used the alphabet stencil to make my quote. Again, punch out the letters you need, and “spounce” the paint onto the bag. I used a small brush to connect the parts of my letters so they wouldn’t look like a stencil
Once the text was dry, I used another stencil to add the triangle design around it.
This is a quick, fun project. If you’d like to try it out (and you should) use my promo code TOTE14 to save 25% (offer expires 2/17/14). See you at Darby Smart!
