(I have a no sew Cat in the Hat costume, too!)

Supplies to make the Thing 1 and Thing 2 Wig:

Step one:  Place a generous amount of PolyFil on a tarp or box.  Spray paint the surface facing you.  Let it dry, them flip over and spray the other side.

Step two:  Place the cap on a round surface.  I used a ball.  Use the hot glue gun to adhere clumps of Poly-Fil to the cap.  Use glue to help the clumps stick together, also.

Step three:  Fluff the Poly-Fil as needed to blend the pieces together.

I paired the wig with a Thing 2 shirt that was purchased at Goodwill San Antonio for just 99 cents!  I see these shirts there often, or you could easily make your own with a red shirt.  Isn’t my nephew adorable?  This costume would be perfect for any age!  I just love this Thing 1 and Thing 2 wig, and my nephew is rocking this costume.

I love to make my own costumes!  If you’re looking for more easy DIY costume ideas, here are some of my past projects with links to the tutorials.

  1. This is adorable and so easy! I love anything Dr. Seuss. No little one’s anymore but inspiring none the less. I was thinking this would be a great way to make Marge hair (from the Simpson’s) for a costume. Just found you recently but am enjoying your post very much. Thanks for sharing!

  2. I wish I could post a pic! My boys dressed up as Thing 1&2 for Dr. Seuss day yesterday and I made this wig for each of them. So easy and they looked GREAT!!
