One of my favorite childhood memories of Easter, aside from egg hunts, is receiving a golden bunny in my Easter basket. Since metallics are still “in” (YAY!) I decided to use golden bunnies in my decorating this year. This sweet piece of wall art is quick and simple to make, and it’s such a fun addition to your Easter decor, don’t you think?
Supplies Used (affiliate links):
- Xyron Creative Station, 9″ with 5″ Option
- Xyron Create-a-Sticker 2.5-inch Sticker Maker
- Diecuts With A View DCWV Specialty Stack Burlap
- DCWV The Gilded Paper Stack 48 Sheets of 12 x 12 Printed Cardstock Scrapbooking Acid Free
- DCWV Project Stack: Mini Albums
- Wood Rectangle Plaque
- Gold Paint
- Twine
Step one: Paint the edges of the plaque with gold spray paint.
Step two: Trim a piece of the burlap to fit the front of the frame. Run it through the Creative Station to add permanent adhesive to the back of the burlap.
Step three: Attach the adhesive backed burlap to the wood plaque. I love that I don’t have to wait for wet glue to dry…just stick it and keep crafting! That’s what makes this project so quick to make.
Step four: Cut a rabbit silhouette from the gold paper. I used my Cameo to cut the paper, but you could also print an image you like, trace it onto the back of the gold paper, and cut it yourself. My rabbit is 6 inches tall.
Use the Creative Station to add permanent adhesive to the back of the golden bunny. Don’t attach the bunny to the burlap just yet!
Step five: Cut pennants from the colorful mini album paper. There are also some pennants in the stack if you prefer to use those instead.
Step six: Use the Create a Sticker to add adhesive to the paper pennants.
Step seven: Peel the pennant stickers off the backing, pull a bit of twine through the hole, and affix the pennant to the burlap. Repeat until the banner is complete. (Side note…isn’t my twine holder cute? Tutorial here.)
NOW you can place the golden bunny onto the burlap. Just peel off the paper backing and attach the bunny as desired.
Step eight: The paper pack comes with a cute bow that is the perfect size for this project! I cut out the bow and used my Xyron tape runner to assemble it and attach it to the golden bunny.
Doesn’t it look sweet when it’s assembled? I have this propped up on my mantle with some other Easter decor, and it makes me smile every time I look at it.
I love this project! The combination of papers you used works really well together and that bow is the perfect touch. Lovely project as always!
Thanks so much!
