Complete a fridge makeover using items from the dollar store and Goodwill.
This idea might be one of my most *controversial* posts ever. People either love or hate this project. There doesn’t seem to be much middle ground with this one. I like bold colors and big ideas, so this was fun for me. I originally posted this project on the Dollar Store Crafts site when I was a writer there, and I thought it would be fun to share again here.
I have a love/hate relationship with my stainless steel refrigerator. While I love the look of stainless steel, I hate how hard it is to keep it clean! I’m always wiping fingerprints and smudges off the doors and handles. I saw these adhesive backsplash sheets at Dollar Tree and knew I’d found a solution to my problem.
- Adhesive backsplash (4) – $1 per sheet at Dollar Tree
- Game pieces – from Goodwill San Antonio
- Glue
- Magnets
Step one: Peel the backing off the backsplash, and adhere it to the refrigerator. Use a piece of cardboard or a credit card to smooth out the bubbles.
There are different patterns of this adhesive backsplash available, so you could easily change this to match your decor. This product is a very light foil-like material, so it was easy to apply and it clings well. It’s not as thick as adhesive vinyl. I like the pop of color and pattern. And I love that I can easily and inexpensively change it when the mood strikes!
Update: The backsplash sticker peeled off cleanly and didn’t leave any residue on the refrigerator! I had it on for several months and it never bubbled or peeled, and it came of with no mess left behind.
