Supplies Used to make the Cupcake Stand:
Step one: Paint the circles and the dowel rods with green paint.  Set them aside to dry.
Step two:  Paint the entire wood ledge pink.  Let the paint dry.
Step three:  Place the stencil on the side of the tray.  I used stencil tape to hold it in place.  Load a foam pouncer with purple paint, blot off the excess, and dab the paint over the stencil.  Repeat until all four sides of the box have the pattern on them.
Step four:  Use a white paint marker to outline the stenciled pattern and to highlight the design.
Step five:  Mark where the dowel rods will be placed.  Use a ruler and a pencil to plan and mark where the pieces will go.
Step six: Use wood glue to adhere the dowel rods to the box.  I use a bit of hot glue to hold the wood in place while the wood glue dries.
Step seven:  Use wood glue to attach the circles to the tops of the rods.  Again, I use a bit of hot glue to hold the pieces together while the wood glue dries.

When you’re ready to use your blooming cupcake stand, fill the base with green paper trim or Easter grass.  I mixed in some mini Easter eggs to add some shine and color to my “grass”.  I added fabric flower embellishments to each circle before setting a cupcake on top.  If you have the skills you can decorate your cupcakes to look like flowers before placing them on the stand!  As you can see, the kids loved “picking flowers” and devouring them!

  1. What a fun idea! I do lots of baking, so what a great way to show off the baked goodies and art talents all in one eye catching center piece. Thanks for the idea!
