Step one: Paint the entire large unfinished wood tag a festive red color. I used “Shaker Red” milk paint from Folk Art by Plaid Crafts. Let the first application of paint dry, then add the next layer of paint. Let it dry completely.
Step two: Cut a strip of chalkboard vinyl to fit the width of the wood tag. Peel the backing off the vinyl and smooth the chalkboard vinyl onto the tag.
Step three: Cut black buttons from the chalkboard vinyl. I used a die cutting machine, but you could also trace circles and cut them out. Attach the “buttons” to the tag.
