My husband and I love Halloween, and we always have fun dressing up together. This year will be no different! We’ll be embarrassing our kids as we take them trick or treating while dressed as a pinata and a birthday boy.
I think this may be my favorite couple’s costume so far! Past favorite costumes include side show acts, grumpy old couple, Popeye and Olive Oyl, and Walmart people. This costume is silly and funny, and a cinch to make!
The birthday boy costume is the simplest: just purchase a party hat and birthday boy badge, and add a plastic bat. Tie on a blindfold and you’re set!
For the pinata costume, I used Oly*Fun fabric. Bright and colorful, this special fabric does not fray, so I could just cut and glue! Other supplies needed are:
- Oly*Fun Fabric in several colors
- Sweat pants
- Long sleeve shirt
- Cap
- Glue gun
- Project Foam
- Googly eyes
Step one: Cut Oly*Fun fabric so it is 4 inches wide. Cut fringe that is 1 inch wide.
Step two: Hot glue the fringe to the clothing. Start at the bottom and work to the top.
I even made pinata shoes that you can wear with the costume if you want!
I really have fun wearing this costume, and everyone has immediately been able to guess that I’m a pinata. I had to include this outtake photo of my husband and I cracking ourselves up. Because, ultimately, that’s what this is about to me: having fun and not taking yourself too seriously. Have fun being a kid again and dressing up for Halloween!
OMG now THAT’S what i call a fantastically unique costume! I SOOO love it!!! :>D

I just wanted to comment that I love how you went with “birthday boy” for his costume. My kid wants a piñata costume, so they can throw candy at people, and I’ve been on,one browsing and have seen sooo many”piñata and generic Mexican caricature” pairings. This is so much more fun! And y’all look great!
Awww thanks so much!
