Have you ever noticed the cute solar powered items at Dollar Tree? They always have something a little different each spring and summer, and for just a dollar it’s hard to pass them up. These pretty little solar powered lamps caught my eye, and I thought they’d make lovely patio table decor. Since Halloween is around the corner, my mind turned towards a “spooky” craft: glowing ghosts! This simple, quick to make project would make great party decor! Supplies:
- Solar Light
- Cheesecloth
- Stickers
- Ribbon
Step one: Place black stickers on the lamp shade to make the eyes. I cut mine from vinyl, but you can do the same thing with “0” and “o” stickers. You can even just draw the eyes with a permanent marker.
I placed my lamps on upside down votive glasses so that my glowing ghosts would appear taller. You could also hang them in your yard…they would look spooky dangling from trees, especially when they glow at night!
The lamps will glow longer if they are outside. You could attach them to a post or rod and place them on your fence or in your yard. I have kept mine inside, on a counter under lights, and when the lights are turned off in the evening, our ghosts awake and glow on the counter. They’re more cute than scary, so they’re perfect for decorating a kid friendly Halloween party! This would also be an easy project for kids to make by themselves. Have fun crafting and creating for Halloween!
