Step one: Paint the sides and front of each of the cubes with Americana’s Snow White Paint. Let one application dry fully before applying the next. I painted three applications to get a bright white finish on my shelves.
Step two: Use painter’s tape to cover the front of the cubes and to protect the white paint finish.
Step three: Paint the inside of each cube with one color. I painted one cube blue, one yellow, and one green to match each of the colored card stock pieces I had chosen. Once the paint has dried, remove the painter’s tape carefully.
Step four: Trace the wood shelf onto the matching colored piece of card stock, and cut out the paper. Brush the back edge of the shelf with Mod Podge, and attach the paper to the back of the shelf. Let it dry.
The pop of color inside next to white outside of the cube shelf gives it a fun, modern, geometric vibe. I love how well the paints match the paper colors! It would be fun to paint several of these and arrange them to create a fun focal point for a large wall. Have fun crafting and creating!
