This colorful fiesta-themed exploding card box tutorial is fun to make, and guaranteed to bring smiles! This is a sponsored post.
How can someone not smile when they get a card packed with so much cheer?
I’ve always wanted to make an exploding card box, but it seemed overwhelming. So many pieces to put together! When I received the Crafty Chica Buenas Vibras pack I realized how much easier it would be to make this project now! The papers, dies, and ephemera pack all coordinate perfectly, so all I had to do was cut paper and start putting things together!
Exploding Card Box Supplies
- Maker’s Movement Crafty Chica Heartfully Positive Card Kit
- Crossover II Die Cutting Machine
- Cardstock in purple, orange, blue, and yellow
- Xyron Creative Station Lite
- Xyron Tape Runner
I used my Silhouette Cameo cutting machine to cut out the base for the exploding card box. I used purple and orange cardstock to coordinate with the Maker’s Movement/Crafty Chica patterned papers. I cut the accent pieces for the box out using my Cameo, also.
My Xyron Creative Station Lite made it easy to stick the panels on the box before I assembled it.
I die cut different embellishments using dies from the collection and my Crossover II die cutting machine.
I love how detailed the dies are, and they look so festive with colorful cardstock. I absolutely love this papel picado die and will be using it a LOT.
The heart die set has a lot of fun little pieces that look great when put together. I used my Xyron tape runner to assemble the corazones.
The fun part was putting it all together. More is MORE has always been my motto, and that’s especially true with exploding card boxes! I placed the largest piece, the papel picado die cut, in the back to form the backdrop. Then I started gluing in pieces, putting smaller ones in the front and larger ones in the back.
The recipient gets a box full of JOY that has something fun to look at from any angle!
