This Mid Century Modern Stool Tutorial will teach you exactly how to make your own cute furniture accent that looks more expensive than it is!
I’m crazy about Mid-Century Modern furniture, and so are a lot of other people. The high demand for these collectibles has caused the value and price of vintage items to increase quite a bit. What’s a crafty girl to do? DIY it, of course! You only need a few basic items to create this luxurious sitting stool that features trendy hairpin legs.
Mid Century Modern Stool Tutorial Supplies
- Foam tuffet
- Wood Circle
- Batting
- Faux Fur fabric
- Staple gun
- Hairpin legs
Glue the foam tuffet to the wood circle. I use a hot glue gun to hold the foam in place.
Cut a piece of batting so that it will fit over the foam and the wood. Use a staple gun to attach the batting to the wood board. Trim off the excess batting.
Position the hairpin legs on the wood base to form a square shape in the center (see photo). Use a ruler to measure and make sure the legs are centered on the wood.
Drill screws into the wood to hold the legs in place.
Cut a piece of faux fur fabric so that it is large enough to cover the entire foam tuffet. Place it under the foam as pictured.
Place the fur over the wood and staple it in place. When you get to the legs, cut a slit in the fur fabric so you can work around the hairpin legs. Continue until the fabric is stapled in place. Trim off excess fabric as needed.
I absolutely adore my new sitting stool! It looks great at my vanity, but it would make an amazing footrest or additional decorative seating in a living room or bedroom. Have fun creating and DIYing beautiful decor for your home!
